On quite a few relays the plastic cover can be taken off to allow access to the contacts, use a ladies finger nail file just to rub thru the contacts or very fine sand paper. The contacts are the usual cause of the problem.

Do the main front lights work ? My money's on the switch / stalk, the brass contacts in the roller get dirty / worn, Ford's of the era also suffer with this, place a rag around the roller and squirt some electrical cleaner in there, let it penetrate turn the lights off and on 20 times and see if this cures it,.

This is a great thread thanks for posting everyone. The roller switch is definitely the problem with mine, i tested the switching side of the relay (with the relay removed) and it blew the fuse. Also ammeter goes off the scale, when i put it across the blown fuse, where the current was going to earth. But i guess it would to take out the 15A fuse.

I have a question:
Is it possible to take the roller switch housing off the top of the stalk so that I can get inside it to clean and check the contacts? There is a little hole at the back, and I am wondering if this is some sort of release mechanism?

That little hole, seems to be a useful lubrication hole, did as suggested- squirted WD in side it, switched the switch several times with no fuse, fitted the fuse and held my breath, ---- all now working.

Any ideas guys what my issue might be. Turn the stalk to turn on side lights tail light comes on, facia lights all come on but no front side lights??

If neither front side lights come on then suspect the earth they have a common pair of earth's one each side it might be that BOTH earth's have rusted/corroded;
