Replaced starter, now turns but won't fire up.

Post by solophoto » Tue Mar 11, 2014 2:20 pm

Hi there,

Can anyone help?

2.5 TD. Suddenly starter "caught" one day and wouldn't turn the engine over. Managed to bump start in reverse, on the first attempt, no probs, got home and left her on the pavement. Got a replacement starter, stuck it in today. It turns the engine over nice and lively, but she just won't fire. What electrical component / connection have I dislodged? Glow light working, never ever had any probs starting her daily before.

Thanks in advance...

The Glow plug light doesn't actually mean anything :-( Check you have 12 volts on the bus bar connecting the glowplugs together, if there isn't 12 volts suspect the fuse first and then the relay the fuse is mounted in line of the cable running behind and down from the battery;

An obvious, but valid point: plenty of fresh diesel in the tank?

Thanks for the replies - I will investigate all, but there is half a tank of diesel in it and so the problem must be electrical.
