Steering judder under braking

Post by hijimhere » Mon Feb 17, 2014 4:59 pm

I have quite a severe steering judder under braking - the more firm the braking the more severe the judder. Apart from run out on the discs are there any other common issues-ball joints ect.

We had that before when coming off motorways onto slip roads. Can't remember if it was front pads or disks that were worn. Or both. Think it was pads and replacement solved problem.

Maybe worn wheel bearings, you can check easily by jacking up and grabbing the wheel at top and bottom and then both sides and trying to wobble it, if you feel play then the bearings may be worn.

But brake discs sound most likely to me.
