'Low water' reading & screaching noise on starting

Our early alarms were supplied with 2 screws to be fitted into the tank. We then altered the sensitivity and only one screw was required. Some fitters still fitted 2 screws as a belt and braces.
All our alarms are good quality, so no worries whichever version you have.

I feel you may be best poping around to a local Bongo friendly garage and getting them to show you the basic weekly checks then you will have abetter idea, a local member may also help out

Fionamac, does the Low Water red light show the symbol of a car radiator (it might look like a suitcase)

No, it doesnt have radiator symbol.... just small red light with 'low water' written around it

Sounds like coolant level was just a tad low and the alarm did it's job. Mine does this occasionally and the alarm will begin to sound when I set off with a cold engine (esp when I turn a corner) when level in header tank is at it's lowest. As engine warms, header tank level rises and alarm sensor is well covered. If coolant needs topping up again soon though (only do it when engine cold to avoid risk of scalding from pressurised hot coolant) then you need to find out why it is losing coolant. And keep some 50/50 coolant/water mix made up ready for top ups. Good luck and keep us posted.

From memory the 2 litre petrol doesn't need bleeding but the 2.5 V6 does.

The V5 (log book) will give engine size, or you can look under the bonnet or see if it has a V6 badge on the back.

I have the V6 (running on LPG) a brilliant 24 valves quad cam engine .. and quite easy to do the regular maintenance jobs ..

Hi. Hope you sorthi hope you sorted the screaching. I have 2 litre petrol and getting info is difficult. I do have the translated workshop manuals and a list of most service parts you need. Since buying mine I put a new water pump on £30 from euro parts. X3 belt set with tension spring and idler from ava leisure. Front and rear drop links set of 4 £32 ebay. Oils filters etc... euro parts are very cheap if you haggle with them...I serviced the auto box fluid by dropping the sump and the gasket is a mare to get. Luckily you can get rubberised cork sheets of ebay and make your own. Another rare part is the exhaust front pipe with the lambda sensor holder. Any questions drop a pm and I will post up info

Also bought translated manual (who would have guessed the dipstick was THERE??!!)
You are baffling me 'ginger Colin' woth your talk of sumps and lambda sensor holders.. please remember i am only a beginner

Question … what tyre pressures would people recommend for a fully-loaded Bongo (am moving goose, so t'wll be full, for a 15 mile journey several times)?? I usually do 36/34 psi
