front foglight bulb removal

Post by revjhdavis » Tue Dec 24, 2013 12:20 pm

Hi....a simple job, I thought! Need to change a front foglight bulb....took rubber cover off back of unit, released the spring holder and out pops the bulb on the end of the wire.....but how do you remove the bulb? Sounds silly but the bulb seems to be soldered to the wire??? Help please!

There are 3 types of foglight, but assuming yours in '95 -'99, you should be able to disconnect the centre wire which will have Lucar-type inline connector (unless previous owner has bodged it).

Thanks for getting back to me Simon.....yes it has but it took me a while to figure it out as it is the first time I've come across them. I've replaced both bulbs but the o/s foglight is still not as bright as the n/s one. Not sure why this might be as both bulbs are brand new. It was the case before, which is why I was replacing the bulbs in the first place.
The lenses are both clear so I can only assume that the supply voltage is lower on the o/s. It will have to wait until after Christmas for further investigation....my wife is none too pleased at the time that I've spent on it already
All the best

Could be dodgy earth connection. Try an additional wire from outside of bulb holder back to a good earth point or negative terminal on battery.
