Fan/Air Con help

Post by mattwal » Mon Nov 18, 2013 12:59 pm

New to the world of Bongo, but just finished getting mine roadworthy but the fans are a bit of a mystery to me!! Fan speeds at the front on 1-4 all work, when I put the a/c button on the light and pump only come on when speed 1 is on,on speeds 2,3,4 the a/c won't work and the light is off on the a/c switch, with regards to the rear, it only works again when the fan speed in the front is set to 1 at all other speeds the rear fans disengage. Is this normal or is something up?? Cheers Matt

I always suspect the fan resistor pack with symptoms like this. Check if your front fan turns freely. If not, current drain may have de-soldered resistor pack. There's a factsheet in members area on how to fix it. Keep us posted. And welcome :-)

Sounds more like the Air Con itself is having a problem, someone else recently commented it only came on with fan speed 1, the suspicion was that the Air Con needed a refill as there is a pressure switch inside to stop the compressor when the pressure is low.

Quite possibly, but DIY checks on fan and resistor are so simple they might as well be done first, to confirm or eliminate my dear Watson
