2 din dvd radio unit

Post by pc13cb92 » Sat Aug 24, 2013 10:03 pm

Hi,
bought a new double din radio/dvd/bluetooth unit off ebay, started fittting last week, found out the hard way about the different size din fitting kits and different size fascia panels. Bought an iso wiring converter for the bongo (pc2-10-4), and today finally got to the point of switching it on -nothing! much checking of connections etc etc and still nothing. put old japanese radio back, and no problems. So either whole new unit not working, or I am missing something? is the pc2-10-4 the same wiring as the CT20MZ01?
any suggestions welcome, or its a phone call to return unit on tuesday.

Read in your new instructions to find which is live wire and earth wire on new unit
Then test wires out the back of new stereo / the stereo side of block to see if you have live
Then check earth to another earth for continuity
If there ok send it back
The amount of new things out of box that are faulty these days is never ending
Gas safe heating engineer / plumber if you need any advice just shout.

Hi,
checked all wiring up to unit, and had the permanent live for unit memory, and the power from the accessory side of ignition switch, but still nothing. It has now been parceled up and is on its way back to the ebay seller, ( who so far has been very polite and helpful ). I will post and let you know what happens when the replacement arrives

Hi,
the saga of my radio dvd is nearly concluded. The reason the first on didnt work was a faulty power onn/off switch. supplier fixed but did not replace. I had to accept the repair as I was going away on holiday in the bongo within days and needed the radio. On holiday it was apparent the RDS function on the radio was not working. When I came home I contacted the seller and explained problem. He accepted that that batch had not had RDS in the software. There followed a list of excuses and reason why he could not change the unit, and we eventually agreed that he would supply an upgraded unit with GPS for a small extra cost. I sent my unit back to him for exchange, and waited. no replacement. more excuses. I had already started an ebay resolution centre complaint and the time limit was approaching, so I escalated the case and ebay got involved. They have now agreed with me and the refund has been paid to me direct from ebay.
I am going to replace the unit with a JVC or Pioneer. I have learned the hard way to go for a quality brand over chinese quality.
If anyone wants to know which unit/dealer to avoid, just ask me.
