Radio fascia plate - is there such a thing?

Post by Jabba's Wheels » Sat Oct 26, 2013 11:14 am

Hi,

Has anybody come across a double din fascia plate? A previous owner/user has obviously changed the original radio unit without the proper tools (or common sense) and has used a pry bar  Consequently there is cosmetic damage to the plastic edges around the slot in the dash. The importer that I bought the Bongo from has fitted a budget radio & pocket into the cage. (Unimpressive but functional)

Browsing the web (e.g. Google/eBay/Amazon etc.) suggests that because a double din cage drops straight in - there is no fascia plate available. Car accessory shops not much help either. :(

Happy to buy a new cage etc. as long as can I have a fascia plate that will hide the edges of the original hole.

Cheers

I think most Bongos originaly had a 'normal' radio and a cubby hole .. my grey fascia is slightly chipped from fitting a BMW clock / cubby hole ..

I might be wrong but I remember some one who could repair damage like this, I would imagine a local car dealer will know
I googled it and found this

Hi y'all,
Thanks for the tips - some good options to pursue. :)

(I remember that back in the late 70's when Ford Capris ruled there used to be some pretty good dashboard paint around)

I bought one of those double DIN facias, the clips were in the wrong place for my cage so I cut them off and superglued over the original (shorter) double DIN fascia. It fills the hole nicely now.
