Fitting a pressure gauge to auto box. ???
Fitted a electric oil pressure gauge to me auto box
Sender is in one of the rubber hoses connecting to auto box
Electric gauge in dash
But don't think it's working
Reads 120psi engine running or not
It does drop 0 when starting engine
It has a warning light if below 10 psi that's not on
Should this work
Is there enough oil pressure to activate a gauge ( seemed to be when I had a leak )
Or do I have a brand new faulty gauge sender
Many thanks gas

Did you test the gauge and sensor before you fitted it?

No mate I didn't
How would I do that
Cheers

Ahhhh think Internet saves day again
As the sender is usually into the engine which is earthed
Bet I have to earth the sender

Forgive my ignorance but what will the gauge tell you?
I seem to remember a set of five or six gauges connected to show a auto boxes performance whilst being tested when I was an apprentice

That I still have oil in my auto box
Will tell me if I have a leak
I'm hoping

Re: Fitting a pressure gauge to auto box. ???
It won, tell you if you have a leak and if you lose pressure you will have no drive....waste of time if you ask me.....a temp gauge fitted to it may be of some use but I think best left alone.
Re: Fitting a pressure gauge to auto box. ???
But you have just created a potential for a leak occurring - I agree with Haydn.Gasy wrote:That I still have oil in my auto box

You should be able to fit the sensor to the gearbox casing, as has been said there are various pressures used in an auto box hydraulic.
Re: Fitting a pressure gauge to auto box. ???
Would you really lose drive that quick
Don't think I have increased risk of leak
As I had to repair a leaky metal pipe a few weeks ago
I have no more connections now than I did have
Do you think if I earth it it will work
Cheers

Just a pipe with an extra hole in it.Gasy wrote:I have no more connections now than I did have

If you are using a standard one wire pressure switch I would imagine it would need an earth.
What is the range of the gauge.

0-120 psi (warning light at 10 psi)
Single wire going to sender at mo
