SIDE DOOR WHIRRING SOUND

Hi

Been noticing a whirring sound all day when driving along. Sounded familiar but could not single it out. Then I realised it's the side door closer motor? Checked door was fully closed which it was but every now and then the self closer motor kicks off. Any one had this before? Any ideas please as I am crap with electrics!

I am sure this is not unique to me...is it?

Start by giving the contact blocks on each side a clean -don't use wire wool! - use a kitchen scouring pad or very fine sand paper if nothing else, a spot of WD40 wouldn't be amiss. If it isn't that then its more likely to be something in the door itself I suspect.

The microswitch that indicates the door is fully closed is at the rear of the door and is a pig to get to. It's worth disconnecting all the plugs inside the door and give them a squirt of contact cleaner. That solved the problem on mine.

If its a job I have to do, it would be a pig to get to?
The top plastic panel has come off on the side door and needs fettling so I might as well take it all off and have a look. Thanks for the tip. Might give Stuc a shout, he's ace at electrics me thinks.

Accessibility is a bit tricky and it's sods law that you won't be able to make it whirr when you're not moving. Diagram here: http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... mgno=.html

Might be worth cleaning all the contacts and reseating plug on the control box (inside door) and then use the van for a few days with the trim removed so you will be able to hear if it's still doing it.

Bloody thing's stopped doing it before I got the time to look at at it ? Must carry on tho' it's bound to start again as Bongo's like other cars cannot heal thyselves!
