Any other symptoms? Lumpy idling when it was cold?

Because it was initially fine with the new battery it sounds more like your battery isn't charging very well, although clearly it isn't completely flat as it turns over the starter motor. What voltage is the battery reading?

It's reading 12.56 after an overnight charge still not firing thanks for reply. No other symptoms it was cold then too, New battery seemed easiest option as the other was on when i bought it 5 Years ago.

And check voltage to plugs when starter motor is turning - that might help identify tired battery?

Make sure all consumers are off then check for any current leakage with a meter --- after that check your alternator output. Is the glow plug light coming on when you are ignition live? How long is it staying on before you crank? The battery could do with a drop test just to eliminate it. But it is sound like glow plug relay or plugs. Plugs are best all replaced at the same time. Can some one point the direction of the Glow plug relay?

Assuming the battery is not at fault, and the glow plug lights are coming on, check the the supply feed from the battery terminal to the relay is connected. I've seen this left unconnected after a battery change, resulting in a non-starter van.

If you need to check further, glow plug relay is under bonnet on driver's side wing if I recall correctly.
