not quite sure what you mean by this? "all the Evans gear"??

**I'm guessing that this is from the warranty pages on the American Evans Site? I can't find anything similar on the UK version

Does anyone actually replace their water pump at every coolant change? Every 2 years?
.......... cycling more.

Hi
Yes...that's from the American website...it's an American product, I guess!...and I'm SUPPOSING that they have the small print geared to include the water pump et al , thereby having a let-out by way of "well, you didn't use our complete installation, including...etc. etc." if you do have clause to complain . Their claim on the subject of "life of the engine" is also totally misleading, because hoses and hose-clips, metal piping and so on will fail before your engine, and the coolant could well end up on the floor.....VERY expensive when you have to transport the vehicle back to the "Evans" workshop...
Yes...In Japan, they routinely replace water pumps...after all, they're cheap enough, and they replace the thermostat....don't forget, that it's a vehicle purely designed for the Japanese market, and Japanese levels of service, where they care about cars...then Japanese ONLY cars are brought over to the UK and subjected to UK servicing ....namely "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...and as such, it usually gets "broke" without maintenance
Personally, the Bongo is serviced, and other components replaced whilst accessible to prevent failure, as it's often sensible , for instance, to replace parts whilst the engine is out , whether they need it or not....It REALLY costs less in the long run....I was recently advised by a fellow Bongo member to have the Jeep water-pump replaced whilst the cambelt was being done....not cheap, but cheaper in the long run. I certainly budget for changing quite a few components when doing any job...
Do I know anything about coolant???...mmmm...when coolants were subject to a lot of extreme testing, as engines were being made with mixed metals more commonly in the 60's ...(aluminium heads on cast iron blocks), I was working as an industrial/ research chemist in a very prominent research lab, and spent my working days analysing corroded and non corroded metals ...one division in the next lab. was involved in coolants , and whilst it wasn't my division, we did chat outside on fag breaks...mostly women in labs, and us gals liked a natter, work related or not     ...and I can assure you that car engines rarely rot from the inside out.....due to the fact that coolants are pretty good at preventing corrosion
Anyway...I'm glad you're pleased with your product, and, credit where due, I admire your loyalty to the company....a rare thing, nowadays, and I admire you for it.....But...from my viewpoint, I know a fair bit from learning, industrial research, and 47 years of amateur car-fixing, an intriguing result of getting stuck down a country lane late at night in my little MG sports, along with a friend, and us lasses were a tad scared !!!!!!...so I started to learn!
Anyway, as I said before...good luck to you
Cheers
Helen
In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.
