Whistling engine and sediment light
Hi all,
2nd post here!
Two questions .....
1) We have a 1995 2.5 diesel auto Bongo. Is it usual for their to be 'whistle' type noise on acceleration at and over 2000rpm. Methinks it's the turbo and it's OK but anyone like to confirm my very untechie know-how?
2) The 'sediment' light comes on ignition but immediately goes off .... is this OK?
Ta muchly in advance for any advice.
Cheers.
Tony.

Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
Hi,
whistling may be No1 exhaust stud broken, not had the pleasure myself but plenty about it on forum,
check light? will be on permanent if water needs draining from filter.

Thanks Darkstar and Northern .... IF this is the issue .... great
..... only had this since Weds evening and that sounds like a major job that I (a non-techie) would struggle with greatly. Off to a recommended service centre I reckon. Thanks again.

Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
sorry mate.
have a look for the missing or loose no1 stud shown in the above link, or the sooty marks around the area.

Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
If it is this problem ..... is it a problem driving it before it's sorted?
Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
Thanks Wonkanoby for that comprehensive response

Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
faster you get it fixed though the less it can twist and get out of shape
Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
Hmmmm ...... no sooty deposits, no exhaust fumes in cab and no studs missing???
Also, just had new; cylinder head, new set of valves, new headgasket set.
Not convinced it's this problem. Do Bongo turbos 'whistle' ?
Thanks.

Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
My Bongo often whistles a bit. I've always assumed it was the turbo and have long stopped noticing it. Exhaust studs have been described as a bit more like a shriek when revved hard though never having heard it, I wouldn't know.
Re: Whistling engine and sediment light
Thanks Mike and Wonka ..... I'll take a look at that turbo pipe clip
