2lt with empty header tank - just top it up?

Post by Getcarter » Sat Sep 14, 2013 4:34 pm

Just checked under the bonnet and noticed my header tanks is empty. Haven't noticed any kind of overheating or leaks.

I have done lots of searching on here and seen mentions to the fact the 2lt is self bleeding.

Does this mean I can just top up the coolant and take it to my local garage (321away) or is it not as simple as that. Bit worried about driving it given all the posts on here.

Any advice appreciated as I am not very hands on with engine and stuff, I tend to get 321 to do everything

Thanks, Tim

You can top up the coolant .. but if it was me I would want to know the reason why the header tank was empty ..!!

If you don't have one already then a Low Coolant Alarm would seem to be a sensible thing to consider. I would rather know about an empty header tank before opening the bonnet!
