Thanks to all posters.Just completed a 250mile round trip with no overheating probs.A nailbiting start to the trip watching the temp gauge in a 2hr motorway hold up in hot weather. The average temp indicated, driving between 60-70mph, was 94deg however stuck in the jam it climbed to 98deg but without fail then the rad fans kicked in reducing it steadily down to 92.This cycle repeated for 2hrs so I was reassured that the van was not going to overheat. looks promising The water level looked OK on my return so it seems I may be lucky to have avoided major damage when I had my original probs. Thanks again for all the good advice.
