Hello everyone.
I live in Devon and have a 2.5TD Bongo [1998], which has developed a gearbox fault.
All the gears work fine, except I have to rev the engine up to around 4,500 rpm before it will change up to 3rd gear. I have heard that this is a common fault and would like to know if anyone can tell me what the problem is.
my friend has a garage - Land Rover - so if it is an "easy fix" I could probably get him to do it. If it's not an easy fix, perhaps someone could point me in the direction of a decent garage in Devon who can do the work for me.
Many thanks in advance from Devonshire!

It's something that I have never heard and I've been here for 7 years.
You really need advice from an auto transmission specialist or if you are close to Plymouth go and see Al at Allan's Vehicle Services, if it is a "common fault" he will have fixed it.

It may be the throttle position sensor needs replacing.

If that was the case, surely it would happen in all gears, not just 3rd?Ian wrote:It may be the throttle position sensor needs replacing.
