Air con problem
Newbe -My Bongo has the on or off type air con (not the automatic type)
But nothing happens when I press it on the green light comes on but no difference in the blowing air temperature
I set the heater to cold and the air intake to outside but nothing
Do you know how I can tell if the air con unit is working?
Thanks..

Re: Air con problem
You should hear a click and the engine revs will change up (normal) or down (if the fast idle solenoid is faulty). The front fans should also come on. If neither happens, check you have a belt on the AC compressor (it's not impossible someone has removed it to mask a fault) and also consider getting it re-gassed. Low gas pressure will prevent the compressor engaging.

Re: Air con problem
the brown plug on the evaporator at the front can be shorted using a link wire to test if the system works but has no or low gas, if when shorted the compressor starts and the fans kick in then its just a leak or low gas. if nothing happens it could point to the lecky side or the compressor.

Re: Air con problem
look through the front grill, or lift the bonnet and look down behind the grill (passy side), you will see 61-503. click the link below.
http://lushprojects.com/bongopartsmk2/c ... 1of02.html.
remove the 2 wire connector on the top and short the plug, not the evaporator, with a jump wire, then press the aircon on button, and see if you can hear the click on the aircon pump and the the front main fans come on. if they do the system main is ok, it may have a leak or need re gassing.

Re: Air con problem
Thanks N.B. clear now - done that the difference was with the wires were shorted there was a sort of sound of a switch solenoid type click when I turned the air con on and off but when I put the brown connecter back on the evaporator no such sound.
Also what fans should come on?

Re: Air con problem
sounds like the system is ok, take it to an aircon man to test for low gas or leaks in the pipe work. £40 £50 on average.
