Radio/Wing Mirror Fuse keeps blowing - advice?

Post by matthewb66 » Sat Dec 30, 2006 12:30 am

Seasons greetings everyone!

I have a 2001 new model Bongo conversion by 321Away.

When I started her up this morning (before a long drive home), the radio was not working (no power), and further investigation uncovered that wing mirror electrics (remote adjust and auto-close for driver's side) were also affected.

I found the blown 15A fuse by trial and error, and after driving to the motor parts shop, replaced it with a new one - only for the new fuse to blow after 1 second. A second trial suffered the same result. I have checked the new fuses are the right rating.

Any suggestions about what could have shorted out? Any other electric circuits I should test?

Thanks!

Matthew

Betcha it is wires in the flexible loom into the door that have frayed and are shorting.

Hey thanks Pippin - that sounds like a good cause so it looks like I'll be visiting 321away very soon to get them to look at it under 6 month warranty.
Happy New Year all!
