Update: I was feeling brave today so decided to flush the whole cooling system along with putting fresh anti-freeze in along with replacing the thermostat. Got to the thermostat and found that someone previously had cut the thermostat that was there in half. I guess that was the reason for my gauge not working!! I also carried out the temp gauge modification so now all should be well again!!! Over an hour to bleed the whole cooling system - absolute nightmare of a job!!!
That's not knocking stupid......... it's a Diesel.
