Overheating Bongo

Post by miller » Sun Aug 04, 2013 9:02 pm

Had a new Head Gasket fitted to our 2.5 Turbo Diesel in January but we are still suffering intermittent overheating problems. The problem is that after an hour to 2 hours drive the temperature guage will go from the normal 11 o'clock to 1pm and then back again within a few seconds. It has also spluttered water out the header tank after this happening on very hot days.

I have bled the system as per the You Tube video , the fans work on the radiator and all pipes seem to be at the correct temperature. The heater does however take an eternity to come on and the rear heater does not work at all (I don't know if this is linked).

Can anyone offer advice, I do not have the cash to go down the head gasket route again but have thought of radiator/water pump : any help appreciated! :D

Regards

Did you just have a head gasket fitted? It is almost always a new head that is required.....was the diagnosis made by a experienced bongo garage....I fear the worst

I realise where you are coming from as the mechanic was not an experienced one with regards to Bongos. He skimmed the head but it was not a replacement. Do you think it may be the head again? I hope not as it will mean disaster for our camper most probably.

We live near Goole in East Yorkshire, DN14 7PP if you could recommend a local experienced Bongo expert.

Thanks for prompt responses.
