clicking on n/s/f when travelling

Post by junior » Tue Jul 30, 2013 3:26 pm

hi fellow bongoers - I have got a clicking sound coming from the n/s/f wheel when travelling at various different speeds and in different gears (manual box) and it seems to get louder the faster you go but everytime you press the brake pedal the clicking sound stops but once releasing the break pedal again it comes back. the missus tells me that its more noticeable on the n/s than the o/s, it seems to have only come to light since the warm weather has been here and the windows have been down more often. if anyone could give any possibilities as to what it could be I would be more than greatful

thanks

Shut the windows and use the aircon then you won't hear it :)

Seriously though, sounds like brake pads, I'd have a look at them on both sides to make sure you have enough pad thickness ad the pistons are free etc.

It would also be worthwhile having a wee look at the CV joints when you are there.

just had new brake pads on last week and 2 different mechanics have checked all the joints just recently all around the front end, i.e. suspension joints etc and its still making the noise. haven't checked the pistons myself but will mention it to my mechanic. thanks (4wd)
