Zig marque 1 query.

Post by thewackymonkey » Wed Jul 10, 2013 12:46 pm

Can anybody tell me why when I am parked & hooked up & switch from car to caravan on my zig, that I am getting no reading of power on the unit.

Everything is powering up & working inside my camper, static & hooked up switched to car on zig, also fine when driving campervan in car mode.
I am assuming therefore that the leisure battery is not being supplied with power when there is no reading of power on my meter dial in caravan mode & this will then drain my S/B if I use any appliances???.

Both batteries are fully charged, hook up is working fine too.
But I have noticed that S/B is on driver side & L/B is on passenger side under bonnet, would this affect the power to zig in any way?

Did we see your vehicle at the National Bash ? Ady fetched a couple of us over to see a vehicle that had had the batteries switched around - the wrong batteries had been fitted with the posts reversed ?

OK well in that case the only certain way is to check the wiring to find out what has been installed, the installations are custom but do follow a pattern;
1. EHU this only provides mains power to the 13 Amp sockets, if your not on an EHU then no 230v mains power.
2. There is often but not always a power supply (X70 or X80 from Zig) associated with a Marquee 1 unit, that powers the 12 volts from the EHU and charges the selected battery.
you can check this by watching the Voltage displayed on the panel whilst switching the EHU on at the consumer unit, if the voltage rises above 13 volts to close to 14 volts then a supply is fitted.
3. When static and not connected to a EHU then the switch on the left selects either the S/B=CAR or L/B=VAN to run the 12 volts, of of course off - You normally set it to VAN.
4. When mobile the L/B is normally charged by a Split Charge Relay, that operates when there is power available to charge the L/B from the alternator - there are several variations on this.
5. Just what is connected to the Zig and the L/B varies, its best to make a list of all the items and then run thru with only one of the sources connected at a time! You may find that some are powered from both the L/B and the Zig.
6. Its also possible that the L/B isn't connected at all to the Zig!
