Few problems

Post by Bongo boy » Wed Jun 19, 2013 11:31 pm

Hi. Just come back from a trip to Scotland 1400miles and it was my first time camping in the bongo. Got a few teething problems if anyone can help.

1, the os electric blinds. The switch front switch sometimes works. Sometimes doesn't. Usually starts to work when I go over a bump. Any common place for a loose connection?

2, the rear ac only blows hot. Even on cold. No difference in temperature. Any suggestion?

3, the side door. I think I should have comfort closing. It has a 6 or so contacts. How do you get it to close it? If the door don't close fully should it close it the rest? Do you have to wait or press any buttons?

I think that is it. Until I remember any more.

Thanks for your time

1. Dirty contacts within the switch. A bit like the "mouse mung" that used to accumulate in old computer ball mice. Just needs pulling apart & a good clean on the contacts/poles...

2. Either a stuck flap or the "dewbury" that turns the heat flap disconnected/broke.

3. Just try cleaning the contacts as above & see if that cures the soft closure or lack of..? (The 3 sprung sticky out ones. The 2 static are for the CL.) Bit of fine grade wet & dry paper/wire wool..??

All easy fixes... Hope this helps? :D
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Check if rear aircon has been disconnected or bypassed.

My front switches were the same ...worked when they wanted. Prised them both off, sprayed loads of Halfords electrical contact cleaner and let them soak, never had a problem since! Used on my horn buttons too ...never had a problem since + loads of other 'dry' contacts which now work fine.
Best £3.99 (big tin as well! ) you will spend .... :D

You can force the blinds up without harm...seriously? I had put the blinds down and went shopping my partner opened the side door and couldnt get in and was going to force the blind up as keys were not in the ignition, but i worried that this would cause damage.

Hi thanks for all you guys help. Today as weather was nice I was working on the bongo. Fix the door. Was a fuse. It was missing!!

The heater was because the cable had come out the holder.
Also I cleansed the contats on the blind switch and fingers crossed it's fixed too.

Can some one help with this. I took the side panel off and there was a little bulb with a holder that was just floating around. Where does it go? Does it somehow clip into the heater controls?

Thanks

It goes into the rear of the green lens that is fitted to the side panel to illuminate the heater controls. You can reach up to fit it by removing the screw & the trim around the control panel and reaching your hand up inside.
