Flashing HOLD light

Post by greengaz » Thu Jun 27, 2013 3:07 pm

Hi all, Still got the problem with flashing hold light. Only now it is intermittent. It comes on after a few miles and stays flashing. It means I won't shift into top gear.
I have tried topping the transmission fluid up (it was a bit low). I also tried to jumping the wires in the diagnostics box. I got a lot of what seemed random flashing codes but couldn't work it out.
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks Gaz

have you got the sediment warning light too.?

if not this single flashing hold light is usually the ecu telling you there is a fault. see the members area for how to read the flashes.
or.
it can indicate a charge problem, does the motor have a split charge system fitted, like a zig unit, these can trigger the flashing, ive seen one that flashes the hold light when a switch is set in a certain position on the zig, although every thing is working fine.

Hi, No sediment warning light. But a repeated flashing hold light. The motor hasn't got a split charger. But the flashing sequence is 1 long flash,6 short 6 long 2 short 9 short flashes. the sequence seems too long for the fault codes given on the web.

Aha - I guess you're not a paid-up member then :? Fact Sheets are only available to actual members of Bongo Fury, not just forum members - see "Click here to join the club" at the top of this page.

I got the sequences from another website www.philmcfadden.co.uk. The problem is that they don't make sense.
Thanks

I have a N reg 2.5 and had what sounds the same, time to get upset. Please see notes below from my past post.

Well after trying to fix the problem myself by having the gearbox serviced, replacing all the sensors I could get my hands on, removing the dash MPH/KPH chip and selling my soul to Satan the intermitant limp mode and flashing hold light would not clear.
I finally bit the bullet and took the Bongo to Barnsley Auto Transmissions. 2 days later I got a call to say it was fixed and they had replaced the gearbox solenoids and it seemed to be working well. After handing over £650 and 600 miles later I've had no problems, at last I can use the Bongo for what its was made.
The guys at Barnsley Auto were great and I would recomend them to everyone. They are very streight talking and there's no messing about, they just tell you how it is. The bongo is now doing 33mpg but I only have a rear conversion free top, so I'm saving money on fuel.
I hope none of you have to go through what I have but now I couldn't be happier, best £650 I've spent.
Hope to catch up with some of you on the bashes or out on the road.

Howie
