The campsite is on a small lane and there's no passing traffic. Large caravans were having problems getting in.
Once in it's a free for all to get a pitch. We arrived early and got two vans pitched up and claimed another three or four pitches for people arriving later on. We were able to get the vans right up to the riverbank, although with the Bongo we had to consider the space required for the AFT. Not a problem though. At some point in the evening the money is collected.
The site has reasonable toilets, a shower block and a dishwashing area.
Fires are allowed so bring some wood, which is also for sale at the site. However if you do have a kayak or canoe, the floods have washed literally tons of wood onto the opposite bank, between 100m and 500m upstream. A couple of journeys and you'll have enough to burn for a night.
The site is not quiet. We had a right bunch of loser motorcyclists gobbing off and being dicks until about 4am. You know, the sort that a normally sane person can actually visualise skinning alive before waterboarding them, and finishing them off with a well placed dog attack and gunshot to the head. Anyway....
The next night we had scout group all around us, very noisy in the morning this time, but to be honest that didn't bother us, it's the perfect location for them. I just hope they woke the bikers up.
Conveniently located right on the River Wye, this is a great place for a couple of days kayaking or canoeing. Canoes can be rented online and there is a delivery, collection and 'taxi' service.
Here's some pictures...
