Hi
Well my compressor is up in Birmingham and I have been told is completely scrap. It has lots of rubbish inside it where the engine has got really hot apparently (warning bells). Im waiting to speak to Discount Trucks (they are on the phone) but he said its likely the fans are not cooling the engine properly (just what I dont want to hear). My question is that I couldnt answer definitely but suspect I know the answer -does the system have 2 parts two it - assume it does as there are blowing fans to the back and a 'rear' button is the give away. To keep costs down I am considering their suggestion of blanking the rear - any thoughts?
Im in a state now as I am dealing with my housefire from 2 May (am in temp accom) and am so worried about driving it however I have SORNed my run around and its not big enough to move to Stroud ... thank goodness Dad has offered to pay for the aircon and all fixing.
All comments/thoughts most gratefully received!

Re: V6 Aircon System
I think the engine cooling thing may be a bit of a red herring. The A/C system is not connected to the engine other than it is driven by a belt, so unless the engine was totally cooked, it's temperature should not affect the A/C at all (in my opinion). However, is true that once you get bits of metal in the system from a damaged compressor, then the whole system does need cleaning out & something else should be changed too (the receiver?) as this will also be full of fragments. I think it's the metal canister with the little inspection window on top that sits behind the front grille.
I don't think blanking the rear will solve your problem unless it faulty in the first place. You will still need all the expensive components to be fully working.

Re: V6 Aircon System
Now I understand it better and Simon you are right its a specialist job to completely blow out the whole system with a special tool. Its all about using the correct oil and gas to ratio and someone clearly hasnt
So I have two choices and for now id like to risk the much cheaper version.
Currently which breakers are around who may have broken a v6 please? I can get a new compressor but id like to risk a second hand one if only for the summer ...
