thermostat
Hi, just had new radiator and heater matrix fitted by garage in 2.5 v6 bongo, driving along this morning for about ten minutes turned the heater on and the temperature gauge went down to cold and slowly back up. The garage had a problem with the thermostat opening and closing, and I wondered if they left it out because when I squeeze the bottom hose when its cold, I can see coolant movement in the header tank. any thoughts thanks.

Re: thermostat
Start the engine from cold. Leave it idling for ten minutes - does the bottom hose start to get warm? It shouldn't if the 'stat is fitted.
Squeezing the bottom hose could cause coolant to flow out the top of the rad and straight into the header tank, so that's possibly expected behaviour.

Re: thermostat
if you squeeze the bottom hose quickly you may hear the jiggle pin clicking in the stat/ housing, if its there.
did they bleed it correctly.

Re: thermostat
No knowledge of where the stat is on the v6, is it positioned in the same place as the 2.5 diesel?

Re: thermostat
I missed that it was a V6. I cannot comment on V6 coolant path. I retract my previous comments.
Sorry ali.
