help needed fitting roofbars please

i have recently purchased a ford freda aft which came with a set of roof bars (not fitted) and have run into difficulty today trying to put them on.

I have included an image of the fittings included to try help with any advice given.

First what I had was the bars with C on top and A underneath with the bolt section closest to underside of the bar so after separating i took the A's and dropped them down into the four pre drilled holes and thats where i am now stuck.

Opening the roof and unzipping the tent i can see the front bolts but the B's dont fit into the gap alongside the rail and i cannot even see how to access the rear rails from the underside.

Any and all help greatly accepted urgently or i am going to be forced into taking a shorter surfboard away that fits inside the rear cab

Hi the( top) of the roof has 4 threaded holes,use thes to attach the bars and or the brackets (depending on the make of product)with 4 setscrews/bolts pos B/C.

Hi,

There are 4 metal retainers moulded into the ATF roof with threaded holes in. These are for roof racks/bars to be attached to.
You will not need to lift the roof to locate the under side of these as they don't go right through. Find which of the 2 threaded fittings B or C suit your needs. Before you fit the bars run it into the threaded hole to make sure the thread is correct and clean & use those to secure your roof bars.

depending on what you want to carry you can just use the ring bolts in the holes without roofbars to secure straps etc. I use something similar (L shaped brackets) all the time for surfboards and the like. After leving a home made roofrack up there for a long time my suggestion is to grease your bolts well and if possible use stainless steel fixings as rust was an issue for me when I tried to remove it.

I had a similar problem with removing some very rusted bolts holding the rack on to the roof, to the extent that I managed to loosen and lose the metal retainers and shear the bolts inside what looks very much like the "A". I therefore now have two very useless holes in the roof, which I would like to sort our so that I can carry a roofrack - does anyone know where the necessary parts can be sourced or an alternative solution (I had looked at the roofrails in the shop, but these don't fit my 2004 AFT )?

(Moral of the story - check the RR bolts regularly to ensure they turn and oil if necessary!!!)
