Bottom Crank Pulley failure

Post by bigbear » Sun Jun 02, 2013 9:51 pm

Now that I have replaced the pulley I am a lot wiser. Three symptoms were present and should have warned that Blodwyn was sick. 1). The noise suggesting that the rubber bush had failed.2) The engine was over heating because the water pump pulley (not the belt) was slipping and there was not a full coolant flow and 3) the engine noise (diesel) was rising and falling and not a continuous healthy purr. NOTE 1) and 3) occurring when ticking over.
I hope this account helps.
