Built in Sat-Nav-DVD-Bluetooth connectivity -phone

Post by ELZE » Fri May 31, 2013 7:00 pm

Hi

My TomTom One went t*ts up after 7 years. Not bad as I have used it almost everyweek. Anyway I was looking for a new on when I got the idea of an all in one! you know the kind of thing handsfree phone itunes satnav ...as you know there is a Double -Din in the Bongy so its possible...insnt it?? :?:

Question is which unit. I asked Hlafords who do not do an affordable one with built in satnav unless you want to pay £800, but I can have dvd with all the bells and whistles but thats no good [-X . They said If I got one off the internet they would fit it for me. =D>

I have found a few on Ebay and Amazon but there are two worries for me,

1. I am unsure of what I am buying, the quality and functionality/compatibility with UK? (these seem to be from China and America)

2. worried about being ripped off!

I am not paying Halfords silly money and the ones I have been looking at are around £250 to £400.

See if it was from Halfords then you could just take it back if it turns out to be a bag-o-shite

but Ebay...well they fill me with dread! So has anyone got what I am looking for and if so how much, where from and how good is it?

We've got an xtrons double din, it was in the van when I bought it. It's connected to a flip down monitor in the back which plays the DVDs. The radios good on it and cd player.. It connects to the iPod and works and also to my phone via Bluetooth for hands free. It has sat nav but have never used that feature. Will be at bongo bash if you'd like a look. Had the van now over a year and no problems touch wood. Rob

There's lots of info on here if you search "Double + Din"

I have a cheap Chinese one and it's excellent apart from having a few minor glitches from time to time. It's got a 2 year warranty so I might send it back in the winter if it doesn't stop it! I have found that the satnav is a lot better than the Navman I had before, and the TV ain't bad either

We've got an Erisin one, works fine.
If you go for one just make sure the TV is digital otherwise it won't work here in the UK.

Nice to hear from you again mate!

I will take you up on your offer if that's OK as I said before I do not want to purchase a croc-o-sh*te then have the trouble ripping it out and sending it back. A lot of people shun equipment that are not branded names but I must admit as an ex tradesman to having a few bits and bobs that would raise an eye or two on site but that do the job just as well.

Sadly I am back to Inverness tomorrow leaving around mid day so it will have to wait until I get back again in a few weeks time. Will give you a shout then..I have your number as they say.

Cheers
