haven,t had any mechanical tuning done to my bongo, but i had a naturally aspirated escort diesel estate a few years back,it was ex B.T. It was slow as hell! Apparently they were detuned from the factory by ford to maximise fuel economy, which made them sluggish too. My mechanic "fiddled" with the fuel pump, which increased the performance quite a bit, knocked a bit off the economy (not much) but it produced a little smoke when revved hard (it didn,t before the adjustment) it still managed over 400 miles on £20 worth of fuel!
