V6 Distributer removal

Post by Breezer » Fri Apr 26, 2013 7:54 pm

Good Evening,

I am currently replacing the Spark plugs, HT leads, Distributer and Rotor arm but I am stuck on the rotor arm removal. The two screws are so tight I cannot loosen them, so I am thinking of removing the distributor then trying to change the rotor arm.

I have removed the bolt that allows the distributer to rotate but cannot pull it out??

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or how to remove it.

Regards

When I removed the screws from my rotor arm, I found the best fitting screwdriver hex bit and fitted it to a 1/4 inch ratchet that allowed be to get sufficient torque to undo them. Can't help with removing the whole unit I'm afraid.

You could contact this chap stuart_indalo who recently changed his: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... or#p587828

Hi Breezer,I am not 101% sure but this distributor could have 2 set screws securing it to the engine.Try running your hand under the distributor to check. Also at times they may need a wee bit persuasion.

Good Luck..

The hex and wrench worked a treat.

Many thanks for the tip

Good result :). It's perfect for hard to reach screws where you just can't get enough leverage.

must be the time for Distributor replacement, my car is in bits waiting on a replacement arriving, I hope to do the work myself but will need to wait and see.
Good luck with yours
