Yes there will be rust when you peel it off but 5 years later added to a 13 year old van....who cares? could leave it on if its OK suppose.....

No harmin asking and I quite like the idea of not getting a respray and the colour range seems good.

I've thought about wrapping mine a couple of times but it is about a grand to get it done properly.
Also been looking at this lately, this I predict is going to be big as it is cheaper and easier than wrapping but also only takes a couple of days.

Wraps look good if done properly.
And they do protect the bodywork from chips and slight scrapes, But its can be a costly way to cover.
Also what you have to take into consideration is vinyl has a certain amount of memory and after a while
it will try to return to its original shape,
you will notice or have seen on some vans like sky vans, in the creases the vinyl comes away from the van and breaks in the end,
then you have to have the wrap section replaced.
costing more so in a long run a spray job could be the better option.

Very interesting, but how long would that last with the little darlings, once they found out you could peel the car.

I was thinking that new arches and some other bits cut out and pieced up, rust proofing and then respray must be around 2k + ? A grand for a wrap makes this viable me thinks. I like the vid Stuc linked which could catch on but I also likes the textured finishes with a wrap also. There seems to be quite a selection of styles, colours and textures.

All that said I agree that a good respray is probably better and that's where I am leaning at at the moment.

Her indoors got her eye on the Jannervanner paint job and loved it! said that if I sell the Landy she would like to pimp the Bongy. Thats more patter out of her I have had all year especially about motors where she has no real interest.

I reckon I might have around 4k to spend eventually but rustproofing and the mechanicals must be a priority before we look at paint,leather seats and shiney things. 12 months work I reckon given my global job travels interupting proceedings.

I am looking for a big garage to rent locally to strip it down and dry store stuff. If anyone else in the area has work to do and would like to share a joint rental facility pm me pls.

I suppose it depends on what you're advertising, as it's quite a big thing over here, vinyl wrapping, with your company splurged all over your car, and they're pretty hideous on the whole, but I did see one parked next to us t'other day at the cash'n'carry advertising a hunting supplies shop...eye-catching and well executed with some fine detailing...but they fade and look awful in a year or two.
Paint is the only way to go...and, believe it or not, paint has been used on cars for over a century with minimal problems Lots of effects, lots of colours, and shines up like a demon.
You can get a cheapish spray job using coach enamels, and I always did my Landys in that paint....don't know what it is about it, but once painted, I never washed them , and they never seemed to have the dirt stick that well....a good downpour often worked well as a car-wash!

Its been done. A guy that came to the 10th Anniversary meet at Toddington station had his Bongo wrapped. It cost him £1700 to have done IIRC. It looked a really good job though. Not sure I would want to spend £1700 on a 15 year old Bongo though.

Hi Elze, if you got that money paint is the way to go, my lads can do you a fantastic job if you use them. If you want me to meet you at their garage when you are home to see what they can do for you I can do thet. Wrapping has its purpose but if they are gonna charge that kind of money you will get a good paintjob inc repairs done.
