horn not working

Post by barry s » Sat Apr 13, 2013 8:15 pm

Fuse not blown, wires on horn connected, add a direct feed to the horn and it works.
Iv dismanteled the steering wheel to expose the connections and all seems to be ok, followed wiring as far as I can all good. Does any body know if there is a relay and where it may be ? Or if any one has an idea what the problem may be ? I could od with a clue !

Do you have a drivers airbag? If the airbag light stays on, could be the clock spring.

Had a similar problem, tried the simplest thing I could think of 1st!
Purchased a can of electrical contact cleaner for £3.99 from Halfords ( big can as well! ) and sprayed the area around where you press the horn ( 2 of these on the steering wheel ) let it soak behind then left it for 10 mins. Came back & tried it .... Hey presto it worked! Intermittently at 1st but continued adding spray and now fixed. Also used on the rear blind switches by the side of the steering wheel as they wouldn't always work ....removed each switch, soaked with cleaner and now they work every time.

Simple ...try it...it may work for you.... :D
