How to remove diesel injection pump?

Ok, after a couple of hours I'm giving up before I break something! The engine is out of the car so no problems with access, how do I remove the diesel pump? I've removed the two nuts from the studs on the pump side, timing belt, pulley and central dome nut on the timing belt side, what have I missed? I've done a search on here and it now *should* come out from threads I've read, but still seems well stuck. I don't want to stick a pry bar in and force it or get stuck in with a hammer (yet!) in case I've missed something.

Loads of threads on seal replacement etc in situ, I can't find anything specific or "how to" on removing the pump from the block. Thanks for any ideas.

HI brian,the pulley stays in place,you have to extract the pump from the pulley not the pulley from the pump.It is usually done with a SST puller that pushes the IP shaft from the pulley.You could give the shaft a wee bit of persuasion but thats up to you.

Pop the domed nut back on loosely & give it a gentle tap to try to break it loose on the tapered shaft. Alternatively, if you dont have a puller, remove 2 of the pulley bolts & then with a solid piece of steel with holes drilled to match the pulley bolt holes, refit the bolts (or use longer if required) to apply some pressure to the top of the nut while giving it another gentle tap.
