Just one click away...

Post by jaylee » Fri Apr 05, 2013 9:14 am

Last night when i finished work i waited for the glow light to go out then started the van.. There was a slight delay before its usually responsive instant start...

This morning all i got was just one click then nothing though all the warning lamps were doing what they do pre start & the volt meter was healthy.. I tried again & nothing.. I tried about 4 times.. Yarp i was blocking my wife in the garage.. #-o

So i popped the bonnet so i looked like i was doing something while the wife rang for a lift... Stroked the battery earth strap & the van fired up first time...

So?? Starter plunger solenoids...?? Or the earth from the starter itself?? I know what i'll be doing tomorrow...!

Mines just started doing similar, I have a brand new starter on the kitchen table and the solenoid repair kit in the glove box. What's the betting it finally gives up away from home at 11 at night in the rain #-o

I just had another episode when i finished work.. This was a real non starter. Checked the immobilizer first all good...

Lifted the seat & gave the starter motor a crack with the end of a long handled ratchet as i turned the key & hey presto!!!! :P

I have a solenoid kit handy that i haven't had the need or chance to fit until now..

Well that was a doddle....... The hardest part for some reason was removing the trigger wire connector. I was worried i may brake it!?

The negative contact had worn pretty thin & the positive was a little pitted i think it was only a short matter of time before the intermittent non starting became a total non runner... Nice day for it too! 8)
