cam cover breather- diesel

Hi
To those who have removed the cam cover breather from the inlet stub behind the engine, and blanked it off, is the improvement in breathing noticeable?, and did you direct the breather pipe straight to air or go via a catch tank to air? I've had a catch tank sitting in the workshop for a few years on the round tuit list ...Also, is the oil mist now diverted disadvantageous to the turbo lubrication, or does it just contribute to crudding up the i/cooler?

I got the feeling it breathed a bit easier. Did it when I disconnected all the EGR gubbins.
I put the end of the pipe into the neck of a Coke bottle with a hole in it just below the neck. After about a years use there is just a small drop of oil in the bottom. Tis a bit smelly at times though when stopped.

I did the EGR some time back, and I was surprised at the difference...I was purely wondering about how much oil breathed out would be advantageous to the turbo lubing. Oil consumption / loss is minimal, and I reckoned it was 3600 MILES per pint in 2010...so virtually nil!...especially for a 200,000 Kilometer engine

i also did mine when i ripped off the egr helen so its hard to evaluate.
just left mine open on a drop pipe, no drops of oil noted on the drive etc. and passed the mot like that too, even though i pointed it out to him.

kirsty fitted a catch tank a few years ago and reported no oil gathered to press.

Thanks...I bought my catch tank at the same time as Kirsty, but I believe she fitted it after having the head done?....Sounds daft, but I keep forgetting to get a length of pipe to fit to the tank ...then I wondered regarding the turbo...
I'll measure the stubs and get a metre of pipe. I'll stick a note in the cars to remember the pipe
