Is this a good battery?

Post by Mcrdave » Sat Mar 16, 2013 6:44 pm

I know a lot of people recommend the Bosch S4 for the 2.5d Bongo but i spotted this and i could collect as it's very local to me, would it be massively different to the Bosch? I think Lucas are a fairly decent make but I don't much much about batteries and cold starting etc.

This is the battery I found http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190811934925? ... 1423.l2649

cheers guys

Price looks good, although I'm not so sure if it's such good value when you look at the spec.

The Bosch S4 that loads of us use is this one: http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/acces ... 0&cc5_1013

It's 95Ah CCA830 whereas the Lucus is 68Ah and 550CCA, so it's roughly only got 2/3's the oomph of the Bosch. The extra power in the Bosch could make the difference when you need to start on a frosty morning and maybe the van hasn't been used for a week or two.

The Bosch one at Euro Car Parts used to be £99 but has gone up to £116, although they regularly have 25-30% promo codes which are well worth hanging on for.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like the Bosch is the one to go for, no point in being stranded for the sake of £30 or so I reckon.

cheers
