External Gas and Water

Post by DRob » Thu Mar 14, 2013 6:20 pm

Hi all,

I am thinking about the future, and wondering if it is possible to have an external gas and water tank fitted to the underside of the van?

This is purely pie in the sky at the moment and I just wondered if anyone has previous experience of this?

I was thinking just a normal camping gaz or similar bottle, somehow bolted to the underside of the chassis for the gas and a similar plan for the water.

Obviously I'd need to think about how to protect against road debris puncturing the containers, but I guess the first problem is identifying the appropriate space.

Thanks for any help / advice / words of caution,

Dom

We've got an underfloor water tank.
It's on the passenger side by the sliding door. Plenty of room there.
Have a look at the CAK (unfortunate name :) ) tanks site.

Local Auto gas fitter whould be able to do a gas tank for cooking as the take off is different I cant remember its eithe liquid of vapour, my local one tells me you can convert a normal car gas tank to use for cooking appliances, its a good cost saving.
If your Bongos a petrol with LPG then you can get a duel tank but not cheap

Thanks guys,

Will look at that site for the water tank, I already have a unit with a camping gaz 907 bottle. My hope was to find a way of safely mounting the bottle under slung... I will have a look at the possible positions tomorrow.
