2nd battery holder
Can anyone tel me that size the bolts holding the tray to the inner wing/suspension housing - I have one which a 12mm is to big and 11mm is to small. I tried 7/16 but that is to small. very odd - I have wire brushed as best as I can but 7/16/11mm still won't fit. I am tempted to try and tap the 7/16 on the nut!
Re: 2nd battery holder
The head of the bolt will have corroded making it slightly smaller hence nothing fitting, I would just hammer a socket on or use mole grips etc and replace with a new bolthijimhere wrote:Can anyone tel me that size the bolts holding the tray to the inner wing/suspension housing - I have one which a 12mm is to big and 11mm is to small. Re: 2nd battery holder
I just fitted a second tray to mine had a bit of trouble getting the M8's in to start with I thought they were slightly to big but it was just paint, dirt and rust cleaned the thread and they fitted fine

Same here .. I used a normal Bongo 'starter battery' tray from the drivers side ... to fit a leisure battery onto the passengers side .. utilising most of the original holes ...

Mine is in a terrible state - neglect and heavy corrosion - it was the bolt beside the washer hose that was causing problems - hammered a 7/16 socket on it and it did give allowing me to unscrew. what have you treated the tray with - thinking that I would like to put an extra protection on the galvanised tray.

Rust treatment:
many ways, first elbow grease and wire brush
treatment of your choice
mine fertan , available from Whilton locks chandelry not cheap
also do non hammerite hamerite (spencer paints) £20/ l halwotsits £18 750ml) and zinc based undercoat.
both currently on breakfast bar (why do you need that detail?)
they close at 4:30 weekdays
good advise as well.
