Suspension Gaiters

Post by Woodybanana » Sat Mar 09, 2013 2:50 pm

Hi
I've just had my Bongo through it's/my first MOT and it failed as the suspension gaiters are split. I've tried looking through the topics but as I've no idea what I'm looking for or talking about I'm after a bit of help from you lovely Bongo peeps. Could anyone explain what suspension gaiters are, what they look like and where I can get them from? Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks.

WoodyB - lost without my van :(

Hi,they probably mean the Macpherson strut boot....34-OA5 part number BC1D340A5.

Mazda or a good motor factors should be able to supply, check with the MOTT to make sure this is the part.

If it is the strutt dirt boots they have failed on its the first I've heard of failing for this!
Wonder if they mean balljoint boots?
Ask the vts to clarify!

Thanks very much for your help.

I spoke to the garage and after being given a description of the suspension parts (triangular shaped, 2 parts connect to chassis rail and 1 part connects to wheel!) I used my powers of deduction (just call me Sherlock!!) and found out this was the wishbone and balljoint and that it was the balljoint boots that had split. Parts now ordered and I'll hopefully get my van back soon.

Many thanks again for your help. =D> =D> =D>
