Grab handles on rear door

Just in the middle of our pre-spring tart up, I see the grab handles at the back (light grey) are looking a bit manky....anyone refinished or repainted them? They feel as if they are plastic or plastic coated, and so I'm not sure how to tidy them up......

wrap them in paracord

They are plastic, if you want to paint them you need to sand them down so the paint will stick, use a primer then sand again if needed, then paint them and use a clear lacquer to protect the paint.
Take the handles off the door to do a proper job.
