Glo plug light flashing and loss of power

Post by jaguar » Fri Mar 01, 2013 12:24 pm

Hi all hope someone can help me, I hav a 2001 2.5 diesel my problem is as follows.
Once the engine has warmed up fully the glo plug light starts to flash there is then a loss of power when i accelerate especially going uphill. The engine still accelerates but not as quick, in town it is not noticable at all but very noticable on the motorway. When stopped for say 10 minutes or so engine starts and runs as normal till normal running temprature achieved, then once again light flashes and engine power reduced. Garage cant find a fault!
Can anyone help!

Ive had exactly the same fault recently. Turns out to be a gasket in the turbo that needed replacing. Dont know where you are but give Julian at 321 Away a call, he sorted mine while i waited. Not too expensive either.

If you're a fully paid up member, there's a factsheet that explains what the flashing codes mean: http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... ostics.pdf

Hi jag,it might be worthwhile asking your garage to check the Waste Gate (actuator)it might be sticking (when Hot).

Mine was doing what teenmal has suggested, fine round town, any sniff of hill or speed and it would go into limp mode.
