I have 2 keys well worn and have had 2 new cut at Timsons. Both old and new operate Driver door, passenger door and ignition lock/function.
None of the keys will work in the sliding door and tailgate. I have a key number, I would like a sliding door and tailgate barrels made up to the key number. Has anyone a contact or supplier who can make barrel's up to a key number?

try mazda, they must have access to the key number/history of each bongo, then make you one if you supply the key number and prove its fitted in YOUR bongo.
or get a second hand full set, they are not hard to insert the lock centres or fit the outer lock casings as well, ive done a few after attempted thefts when they punch the locks out and damage the key slots.

You might well find that the keys don't work, because the tailgate and sliding door locks aren't as worn as the others. I had the same problem until the keys had been used for a while.

I'm sure i read something about the spare key being a "valet key" Cut for just the drivers door & ignition only...?
Which kind of dont make sense seeing as the Bongo wont be hanging around high class hotels & the CL would pop the side door & boot anyway...
The keys could have been cut from the spare making it a dodgy fit on the rear locks??

Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: Locks & CDL
Thank SB - the key will do the ignition, the driver door and also the passenger door lock. The passenger door will open independently (no CDL function) when the key is used. Interestingly of the two branded Mazda originals one has a number on it, this is the one used as a pattern by the Timpson guy. Both keys are well worn, I had patterns to avoid the possibility of a breakage. I just wonder if both keys, when the vehicle was new. had the number stamped this would indicate of the two that came with the vehicle one is probably a replacement.
There may be something in the earlier suggestion that the sliding door and tailgate are used less so worn keys might not work. I have had a good fiddle with the cut to pattern new keys but neither door lock has any of that tell tale give indicating an almost fit/almost turn. Waiting for a warm day to have the driver door panel off. If there is no remote receiver I have a kit at the ready.

Re: Locks & CDL
I placed an order with Mazda Coventry for one key which they can arrange to have cut to my key number. They can still do a complete lock set @ £209 + vat The single key is being charged at just under £25 all in - if it opens the sliding door and tailgate it will have been worth it.
Re: Locks & CDL
I have the key which was cut to key number -- unfortunately it does not fit the sliding door or the tailgate - dam

Look up you local directory and there are mobile locksmiths who can remove the barrels and alter the tumblers to make it fit the key you want .you could do it yourself if your confident!
