headlight bulbs

Post by timmy » Sun Dec 10, 2006 4:56 pm

Hi all
it's not often I post so I really must stay in more!
my problem is changing a blown headlight bulb. I can't see anything in the manual. i've tried pulling and twisting the circular bit at back of headlight unit.
I can't find info in the archive either.
can anyone help please?

btw: I love my bongo and am looking to getting away in her over Christmas.

happy holiday to all.

You need to squeeze the ends of the springy bits together.
That then releases the bulb.
Ah, you need to pull off the rubber skirt first and the connector.

thanks Pippin,

you know what? i do regularly squeeze the ends of the springy bits and it does indeed release the bulb - especially after tugging at the rubber skirt.

However, back to the bongo, i will try that in a mo with a torch! i had a half hearted attempt in the Halford's carpark today, hunched under the bonnet in the driving winter rain. Down here in God's country.... glorious Devon, flooded, washed out, toppled boats, storm ravaged, but glorious.

thanks again

tim

It is too darn wet at the mo for me to go and check in the log but I think its halfords h1 bulb set fits all the bongo, if and when this bloody rain lets up I will post the answer for sure. Can't even walk the dragons in this. Yep just checked H1 bulb set is for the bongo, unless you want to blind people then use the super ones. Happy motoring.

David,
Interested in your findings, as just checked our Bongo (1998 facelift model) & they are H4 type with 3 prongs.
Do bongo's have different headlamps I wonder?

Probably right as mine are H 4 as well, I think the H1 refers to a Halfords pack code thats all. Happy motoring.

Little buggers are restless in this weather, cant fly in the rain, puts their flames out. Can't wait for the call from H Potter film crew to give em an outing. Happy motoring.
