Clock spring

Post by gtotz » Tue Feb 12, 2013 8:42 pm

Hello all, a little help needed. The clock spring had gone on my Bongo (Airbag light flashing six times and horn not working, found out that info on here) but looking through the forum there is quite a lot of advice about diagnosing the problem, I can't find a way to fix it? I am guessing it needs replacing and want to make sure I get the correct part. Is it as simple as 66-CSO as show here?

And if it is that part, is it the same part that fits the 626, which seems to come out on an Ebay search?
MOT is due end of the month ans hopefully warmer weather around the corner, so want to get this sorted, thanks in ancicipation!

Had to replace mine last year and was advised that it was best to go for a new unit rather than taking a chance on a second hand one. It wasn't cheap, around £125, and bought it through the club shop. Apparently they can't be repaired.
I think the part you quote is the only one there is. Mine is a '98 van.

Thanks for that, will have to get one ordered form the shop. It seems a little pointless getting a secondhand one I guess. Was it easy to fit? Bearing in my I struggle to tell one end of a spanner from the other?

Cheers

Much the same as you. Let a friendly auto electrician that I use do the job, I think it added about another £30 but at least I knew it had been done properly.

Bongonaut, I have had a look through the bongo shop (non members I have to confess) and can't find the part. Can't find the part anywhere on-line either? did you have to contact the shop or did they have it listed?

Thanks again!

We don't keep them in stock, but can get hold of them from Japan. Delivery time is 10 working days.
