Warm up time.

Post by Vanmanerik » Wed Nov 29, 2006 12:01 pm

Approx, how long does it take your Bongo to warm up, that is get to 'normal' running temperature. Answers in minutes or miles or bot, thanks.

Another question, is the thermostat mounted on the water return/inlet? On any normal motor it is usually mounted on the main water outlet on the cylinder head/crankcase.

From cold, mine takes about 2 miles at 30mph before it locks in to top gear.

For the temperature guage to wake up and reach normal working temperature can take much longer. This will of course be affected by the "work" the engine is doing, speed and ambient temperature, not much help really as I have not measured the time but it can be 1/2 hour sometimes!

3 kilometres from cold (unused overnight)to needle just into the normal zone. And this is strange it doesnt matter what the ambient temperature is, its always 3kl and always in the same conditions and traffic on my way to work.

I know this as I have to warm the engine before switching to Veg Oil.
