I know fordavefreda, thats the dilemma
The alloys look great, ride perfectly OK and I will never afford them back if I let them go. Interestingly, when I dropped in at an importer In Southampton to pci up a Bongo mat I won on ebay, he looked at the Alloys (the make is 'Precious' ) and said they were real expensive ones. He had seen them in Japan selling at 100k yen and wanted some until they explained that was for EACH wheel (apparently thats £500 each). Maybe I'll keep them for Sunday Best as one Bongoer said on the Forum.

low profile tyres etc
I've posted a similar reply on the RX8 topic but it's relevant so I'll repeat it. I had reservations about having RX8's and fat low profile tyres fitted to my bongo. But, I have to say, the ride is far better than on my previous bongo with "standard" alloys. It's quiet, comfortable and feels really good roadholding wise. I was paying about £60 per tyre for Vanco 8ply (I think) on the previous bongo. I payed £500 for the RX8's and the tyres so don't think there's much in it. But they don't have look good!

Very interesting amethyst - what mileage do you reckon you are getting out of your low profile tyres (are they 17" rims?).
Looks like I may have bought some steels I dont want. Not ture really as I can try them out, then if the alloys make more sense, keep one as a full width spare and sell the others as same eh?

Also at the risk of repeating myself amethyst...............it's pretty essential that the tyres follow the 92/96 load rating for the Bongo - it's a helluva lot heavier than the RX8 and an eagle eyed insurance assessor would have a field day in the event of an accident...........amethyst wrote:I've posted a similar reply on the RX8 topic but it's relevant so I'll repeat it. Good advice that Dandy - I have checked and the tyres are carrying 92 rating so should be fine unless I overdo the Xmas Pud! As for mileage we will have to wait and see. My previous Bongo had a habit of wearing out the tyre shoulders despite them being correctly inflated and the tracking being checked. I'm guessing this was due to tyre roll. On the assumption that the low profiles have stiffer shoulders and are inflated to a greater pressure anyway I'm guessing that the wear will be even if nothing else but I am no expert. Watch this space.
