Hello all,
I recently stopped to have a cup of coffee in my bongo after a walk in the park. (this was during the blizzard which struck the midlands last friday morning). I had my lovely warming cup of coffee while listening to the radio and had the air-con on the stop the windows from misting. After 20-30mins this left me with a flat battery ( and a 2 hour wait for the AA). Anyway I have a split charger installed by the previous owner and that is as far as my knowledge goes. Is it simple to run the heating and cd player off the leisure battery instead of the starter battery? if so how?
Cheers again guys
Jack

The air con only works when the engine is running to drive the compressor. You could potentially wire the front fan to the LB, but without the engine running, the air will soon loose its heat. A lot of people do wire the stereo to the LB for when the van is parked up although it draws a lt less current than the fan motor.

cheers simon by air con I meant the fan sorry about that. is wiring the cd player and fan to the lb difficult do you now?

The stereo is run by 15a fuse 8 in the fuse box below the steering and the heater looks to be 30a fuse 17 under the bonnet. There is a list of fuses here:http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/member ... usebox.pdf
You would need to replace the feed to these fuses by breaking the switched ignition feed and re-wiring it to the LB. I dont know of anyone who has done this with the fan motor so not sure what is involved.

Wilton do a nice little wiring loom that you can install to run radio, elec blinds, cigy lighter socket etc off your LB. Can purchase via e-bay. Not sure how you would wire the fan in as well, but the wilton kit would get you started.
Cheers.

Sounds a good idea, do you have any more info on the supplier of the loom.

I can't see why you want to run the heater from a leisure battery as the engine as to be running to produce heat water to heat / circulate the heating circuit ..
But if you want to power different lecky circuits .. so for example you can utilise a 'normal' 12v fan to run from a cigarette lighter ... if you already have the leisure battery set up ..then use this kit ..
