Fitting new Radiator

Post by Javelin » Thu Dec 07, 2006 2:56 pm

It speaks volume on the reliability of the Bongo but I've not been on here for over a year :?
She really is the best vehicle we've ever had.

Anyway the plastic capping of our radiator split and we had to buy a new one.
Ebay, £150 to the door, delivered in two days, so pretty happy with that.

I noticed when removing the old one that they use the lower section of the rad as an oil cooler as well. (very clever)

My question is now I've re fitted the rad, (ten minute job)
Do I have to bleed the oil system through the rad? or can I just plug the pipes back in, fill the rad with antifeeze and fire up?

Just check the fluid level in the gearbox and top up as necessary.

Thanks, I did not realise that it was cooling gearbox oil.

Should I fill with 100% antifreeze and top up with water or is there a prescribed mix?

Javelin,

It's not as straightforward as this. I suggest you read the "Coolant" fact sheet in the members-only area.
